I am a big advocate of experimentation. Every person has her/his unique style and part of being a successful entrepreneur is bringing that out in a way that connects with potential customers (learn more). Experimentation is the key to finding what will bring those people to you. Don’t be afraid to play around a little bit and see what works and what doesn’t. Here’s just a few ideas:
- Post personal updates on Twitter and Facebook… not just business news. Where are you and what are you doing? More and more people are wanting to connect with the real you before they decide to try your product.
- Tweet about the new content you just put up on your website or blog.
- Ask your Facebook friends to take a poll on your website.
- Pass out fliers or business cards promoting your website at your local event (or even the local coffee shop if you don’t do “events”).
- Add pictures to your website – make sure they fit both you and your business.
- Ask your friends to visit your website and tell you the first thing they read or noticed. It might not be what you think it will be. But, whatever it is, 1) it should be engaging -and- 2) people should have a clear idea on what your products/services are based the first thing they saw.
- Put a “personal note” on your website. Something engaging that tells your customers more about you and your motivations.
What are your ideas?
